Wednesday
Today, once again, life has proven that it is the Big Boss, and we are mere puppets dancing to its instructions. No matter what, you will get what you are destined to get.
I always leave home around 8:55 to catch the 9:09 am Belapur train. It takes me around 10 – 12 minutes to reach the station. This means, I reach the platform by approx. 9:06am. This gives me sufficient time to reach on time for the train. However, today was a little different. A little bit of lethargy crept in and I left home after 9:00am. I assumed that I would not make it on time for my train, and therefore began walking leisurely; soaking in the morning sun and hustle bustle around.
When I reached the foot over-bridge, the indicator displayed 9:18 Vashi train. So, I walked down. The station was pretty crowded. Since I was not going to catch it, I walked to a corner and stood away, under the foot over-bridge. I was contemplating which train to catch. For the next two trains would be packed. I was anyways late for office. So it did not matter if I was 5 minutes late or 15 minutes. So, as I made up my mind to catch the 9:36pm Belapur train which would be pretty empty, I saw a train enter the platform. I saw the guy wearing a black cap rush to secure his position at the door. Since, he was a regular at the Belapur train; I came forward for a second look at the indicator. It again showed 9:18 Vashi. I saw one or two other regular passengers of the Belapur train, and therefore walked ahead to enquire. During this period, most of the passengers almost boarded the train and it was brimming with passengers. I ran a little ahead where there was space for a lone passenger to squeeze in, and enquired with a person standing at the door, “Vashi Gadi hai Kya?” “Nahi Belapur,” pat came the reply. For a moment I could not believe my ears. But, without wasting any moment, I thrust myself into the train; squeezing through the cracks in the human wall of passengers hanging on the door. The train began to move….
It’s amazing. I was already late. I whiled more time by walking leisurely. I almost missed the train mistaking it to be the Vashi train. But, here I am sitting in office –on time- and busily typing this piece on my desktop thinking about this line. Though not very apt, but should convey what’s on my mind –Waqt Se Peheli Aur Kimat Se Zyaada Kisko Kab Kya Mila Hai. (Pleaaaase forgive me for the verbatim, and take into consideration the thought and the feelings)
